About the Role
Lycopodium is looking for a Graduate Process Engineer to join its Cape Town office. You will report to the Principal Process Engineer and work on EPCM project delivery in the mining industry, with mentorship from experienced engineers and professionals. The role is designed to build your technical, analytical and professional skills and to give you practical workplace experience that builds on your qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with process design, including mass and energy balances, flowsheets and process descriptions
- Assist with P&IDs, design criteria, control philosophy and operating costs
- Assist with the development of metallurgical test-work programmes, with occasional test-work oversight
- Assist with commissioning activities under the guidance of others
- Interpret metallurgical test-work as a first pass for review by others
- Prepare the process components of study documents
- Assist with the generation and compilation of engineering and equipment specifications
- Provide administrative and operational support as required
Minimum Requirements
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
- South African citizenship
- Based in Cape Town
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels
- Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with clients, vendors and co-workers
- Willingness to seek and accept guidance and feedback from subject matter experts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Computer literacy
- Integrity, credibility and commitment, with a drive to keep developing professionally
