BFG Africa is offering an exciting internship opportunity for someone currently studying or recently graduated, who is eager to build real-world skills in a maintenance and manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role designed for a motivated individual who wants to gain practical exposure to factory operations, maintenance planning, and industrial safety practices while working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
Purpose of the Role
The Maintenance Intern will support the day-to-day manufacturing operations at BFG Africa’s Germiston facility. This includes assisting with process monitoring, data collection, quality checks, and continuous improvement activities. The role offers a well-rounded introduction to how a modern manufacturing environment operates, with a strong focus on maintenance systems and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Support root-cause analysis for maintenance issues
- Assist in implementing and maintaining 5S standards
- Assist in implementing and maintaining Kaizen and other lean manufacturing activities
- Coordinate the CUMA logic implementation
- Manage the one-piece flow process on the new floor layout
- Coordinate with maintenance teams on machine issues and follow-up actions
- Ensure safety rules and workplace procedures are consistently followed
Minimum Requirements
- A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Maintenance Engineering, or an Engineering Technician programme
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Willingness to learn and work on shop-floor activities
- Basic understanding of tools and safety procedures
- Eager to learn, reliable, and proactive
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
- A genuine interest in the manufacturing and engineering industry
- Must reside in Germiston or the surrounding areas
