GIBB, a leading multidisciplinary engineering firm with a strong footprint across Africa, is inviting applications from young South Africans for its 2026 Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme. GIBB is 73.06% black-owned and has been a leading provider of infrastructure planning, design, and delivery in South Africa since 1956. Through the YES Programme, GIBB is offering unemployed youth the chance to gain meaningful workplace experience, develop new skills, and earn a salary on a 12-month Fixed Term contract at its Johannesburg offices.
The YES Programme is a business-led collaboration with government aimed at reducing youth unemployment across South Africa. This year, GIBB is opening positions across five disciplines:
Civil Engineering (WIIG) — Ref: GIB-446 — 2 positions
Requires a BTech/BSc in Civil Engineering. Successful candidates will be placed in GIBB’s Water and Integrated Infrastructure delivery unit.
Transport (Bridges), Civil Engineering — Ref: GIB-446
Placements are also available in GIBB’s Transport (Bridges) delivery unit for candidates with a Civil Engineering qualification.
Electrical Engineering (GIBB Power) — Ref: GIB-445 — 4 positions
Requires a BSc in Electrical Engineering. Successful candidates will join GIBB Power.
Mechanical Engineering (GIBB Mining & Power) — Ref: GIB-444 — 3 positions
Requires a BTech/BSc in Mechanical Engineering, plus CAD literacy (preferably AutoCAD or similar).
Business Administration — Ref: GIBB — 2 positions
Requires a National Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Business Management, Commerce, Procurement, Project Management, or a related field.
Project Administrator (WIIG & Transportation) — Ref: GIB-447 — 1 position
Requires a National Diploma in Business Administration with strong MS Word and Excel skills.
Minimum Requirements (All Roles)
- Grade 12 or equivalent with Mathematics, Science and English (engineering roles)
- Relevant BTech/BSc/National Diploma as specified per role
- South African citizen, born in South Africa
- Aged between 18 and 35
- Currently unemployed and available for a 12-month Fixed Term contract
- Not a previous YES beneficiary
- PC literate
- A responsible, honest individual eager to learn new skills
