Volkswagen Group Africa (VWGA) is inviting applications for its 2027 Bursary Programme, offering full-time South African students a fully comprehensive package to support their studies and future career at one of the country’s leading automotive employers.
About the Bursary
This bursary covers registration and tuition fees, accommodation, meals, books and stationery, vacation work, mentoring and development, additional study support where needed, and a laptop for study purposes. Successful applicants will sign an agreement with VWGA that includes a work-back employment period after graduation.
Who Can Apply
- South African born citizens only
- Registered as a full-time 2nd to 4th year student at a DHET/CHE accredited tertiary institution in 2027
- Not open to Master’s or Doctoral students
- Grade 12: Bachelor’s Pass with a minimum average of 70%
- Tertiary level: minimum average of 65%

- Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering
- Digital Marketing
- Business Administration in Logistics and Supply Chain, Production Management, or Operations Management
- Information Technology, Systems, BSc Data Science, or BSc Computer Science with a data science major
- BCom Informatics with Data Analytics, BSc Statistics and Computer Science, BSc Mathematical Systems, BSc Informatics, BCom Business Analysis, BSc Information Technology with Business Security, Bachelor of Information Technology (Networks), BSc Computer Networks, BSc Information Networking, Cyber Security specialisation, or Information Technology with Systems, AI or Machine Learning
- Finance, BCom Finance, or Bachelor of Accounting Science
- BCom Economics, International Relations, or Business Administration
Preference will be given to applicants from Designated Groups, in line with VWGA’s Transformation objectives and Employment Equity Plan. Candidates may be required to undergo screening, shortlisting, interviews, and psychometric assessments depending on the application stage.
Required Documents
All applicants must submit:
- Certified copy of a valid South African ID
- A motivation letter explaining why you’d like to be part of the VWGA Bursary Programme
- Recent certified parent/guardian SA ID or death certificate
- A comprehensive CV
- Completed online application form
Undergraduate students (in 2026 and prior) must also submit certified full tertiary academic records, latest/June 2026 official transcripts, a certified matric certificate, 2026 official university fee statements (plus lease agreement if applicable), and certified proof of 2026 registration.
Optional documents, where applicable, include existing bursary/NSFAS agreements, disability documentation, and a 2027 acceptance letter.

Applications close on Monday, 28 September 2026 at 12 midday. Should you not hear back by 28 November 2026, please consider your application unsuccessful.
